I believe patience and perseverance are the two most important qualities every tutor needs. As a student, I learnt skills at a slower pace than my peers. Thanks to my patient and determined lecturers and tutors, I have reached university. I will do my level best to show the same skill to my students. Being a student right now is one of my…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to create a general interest for the subject they're studying, where the student does not dread their tutoring time but instead look forward to learning more and more. In my opinion, tutoring is not only about improving the student's grades or having extra help, but it is also a way to…

Local Reviews

Initially we investigated a range of tutoring options. We looked at tutors through friends recommendations, Uni students looking for additional income and tutoring "matchmakers". We decided to go with EzyMath because they made the process really easy, and reasonably priced. Daniel has checked up with me throughout the process and the tutor is making great connection with my child. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a tutor.

Inside PostansTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mia worked on finding the area of rectangles and triangles, practising these calculations with visual aids.

Year 9 student Ava focused on congruent triangle proofs and explored scale factors in geometric diagrams.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student James tackled graphs of circles and parabolas as well as applied Pythagoras' Theorem to solve coordinate geometry problems.

Recent Challenges

For a Year 10 student, disorganized lesson materials—spread across folders and websites—left her unsure what to revise first in maths. As a tutor noted, "she doesn't have a clear overview of what she needs to learn," making focused practice difficult.

In Year 7, one student avoided writing out calculations for geometry on paper, instead relying on laptop notes; this made it hard to check reasoning or draw diagrams accurately.

Another senior student missed homework repeatedly in English, which meant class discussions felt overwhelming and unproductive when key readings were skipped.

Recent Achievements

One Postans tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who, after struggling to lay out maths workings clearly, now sets out each calculation step and makes far fewer errors as a result.

In English, a Year 8 student has started using her wordlists in sentences and reads aloud more smoothly—her reading voice is much clearer compared to last term's hesitancy.

Meanwhile, a younger student recently took initiative by doing all their assigned homework for the first time without reminders and even asked for extra tasks, showing new independence that hadn't been seen before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kwinana Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Medina Primary School.
