We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Logan has to try to take on board more of these learning strategies, such as avoiding lazy thinking, writing his working down and questioning whether his maths makes sense before delivering an answer. We're working on it but it is a challenge as he does like doing things the way he's comfortable with it.
Zara's attitude in my lessons fluctuate. In most of my lessons, she is enthusiastic but there have been lessons where her attention and focus have been low. Zara tries her best in most of my lessons. Her desire to understand problems and how to do them demonstrates her willingness to learn and a genuine desire to improve her mathematics. Zara would benefit from practising her maths during the week. Simple things like asking her to tell the time in different periods of the day would benefit her immensely.
She really needs to learn basic maths in order to be able to solve difficult questions as she is in year 9 now. We will start brushing up on her basic maths such as multiplication, division and fractions. Hazel needs to work on many areas if she wants to do well in maths. She will have to try to work harder and put more effort in lessons. She also needs to learn to focus in class. We will try to work on her basic maths first so that she can do better in year 9.
We did very much like Jacinta - particularly impressed at her efforts to engage Eliza by planning lessons around her interests (eg Harry Potter) and strengths which are more visual than anything else. Jacinta did a great job.
I started tutoring with Ezy Math as a way of keeping busy in the final year of my postgraduate research. I ended up loving every moment, especially those that were challenging. It was amazing to see my student gain more confidence in understanding and solving maths questions. The proudest moment for me was the session where she didn't ask for my help with her exercises, but finished them perfectly. This experience encouraged me to apply for secondary teacher training this year, and I can't wait to start. Ezy Math Tutoring is such a supportive environment. I really appreciate the personal development modules that they provided, as my student and benefited greatly from them.
I found EzyMath on the internet when I was trying to find a maths tutor for my daughter leading up to her final exams. Ezymath organised a tutor within two days. Nathan was punctual, organised and very proficient. My daughters grades in maths increased by 10% after just a few sessions. My daughter and I both wished we had of contacted EzyMath sooner and would definitely recommend their services to others.
