We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
We are focusing on building charlotte's grasp of concepts such as functions and their role in mathematics and every-day. This aspect is a focus of her current syllabus and will feature significantly in her exams.
Cara continues to show a good attitude towards improvement. Cara's recent efforts have been good, and are paying off as she received 70% in a recent test. However, I would like to see her aim even higher especially for the exam period. I would like to see more of Cara's homework and classwork at each session so that I can see the effort that has been put in.
Chloe has embraced the challenge of facing difficult word problems. She has shown steady improvement , first with tackling NAPLAN-type multiple choice questions, then with facing multi-step problems which required a deeper mathematical understanding. She has become much more comfortable with fractions and solving questions which involve them. Algebra , but that's ok given we have just started and it's very early days!
Noah is doing well so far with Michelle as his tutor. He is starting to improve with his understanding of Maths and is happy with the way Michelle is working with him. I think as time goes by and he becomes more confident that he will improve more.
So far so good. Freddy is lovely and Oscar seems to be settling into having a tutor really well.
I am really happy with the tutoring provided by Aisling for Calledon. Calledon is really doing well , feeling confident to overcome his fear for Maths.
