Finding a suitable maths tutor for your child can be difficult. Where do you start? What do you look for? Experience? Personality? Someone local? Should they teach their own content or work on your child's current school work? How often should you have tutoring? How long should each session be? Is a particular time of the day more effective than other times? So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter....

So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter. It's really about finding someone who is a good match for your specific situation. That means a good personality match + a teaching style that matches the student's learning style + a good balance between empathy and authoritativeness + many other things.
Unfortunately no tutor profile can tell you if the tutor will be a good match. You won't know that until you see them working together.
It usually doesn't take us more than a few days to organise a maths tutor in Glenside. And, we really want you to love your tutor! That's why your first lesson works as a trial. Don't think the match is good? We'll organise someone else...

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Carlos is very good at showing his working out and it is easy to follow along to understand what he is doing. He is good at rechecking his own work if he feels that it may be wrong. He always asks for help with questions if he is confused at any point.
patrick has a good attitude and is always willing to engage in discussion patrick does all homework and puts in enough effort but could be improved now heading into year 12 he needs to learn how to self check his answers by referring to other examples with answers and applying the same method to new questions
Difficulties are visible in: - factorisation - parameters v unknowns - discrimination between an expression and an equation - visualization of equations and plotting in a x-y graph. Running at the speed of the official lectures we have a constant gap of 3-4 weeks since we started later.

We are more than happy with Kancelot. He and Rohan seem to get along well, he is punctual and polite , and is also helping Rohan improve his maths skills.
Yes, everything is going well and Avishag is GREAT! She is clear, direct, and no-nonsense, which is exactly what Is needs (can't get away with anything), and yet this is balanced with underlying kindness (motivated to do well). It's not something I can describe well in words, but Isabelle definitely responds well to Avi's method. She has improved to passing the most recent test (from massively nowhere near passing), and I can see her confidence in math has improved, too. She was shocked to suddenly find herself helping some of her friends work through questions that they couldn't understand, and enjoyed the feeling, so that is an achievement! Yes, she still has a long way to go, but we're off to a good start. It's so good to have Avi reinforce methods of organization and skills that don't register for Is when I mention them, too! We are both very, very grateful to have Avi help Is through this.
We are extremely happy with Estephanie. She has managed to hit exactly the right note. We are just looking for Isabel to understand some basic principles and Estaphie is managing this with patience and skill. I cannot speak highly enough of Estaphanie.
