We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that...

It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Seb has over this month improved his problem solving skills and we have been working on avoiding rule dependency and training logical and discerned thinking when approaching problems. He still hasn't fully understood that it's okay to be wrong, but we are working on that and encouraging putting his thoughts out there so he can continue to learn and grow through this.
Paris is hard working, and receptive to feedback. She completed the mindset exercise to work on her confidence, and has been instructed to look at it from time to time for affirmation. Paris is certainly putting in the effort, and has completed most of her past textbook exercises. Paris' question formatting can use work, but it is improving. She has also started making use of a cheat sheet to help her when writing notes for tests.
Mason forgets to back check most of the time and thus may get incorrect answers. slightly lazy thinking where he disregards some aspects of the question which thus leads to the incorrect answer. pen to paper is lacking, mental maths is good however pen to paper is also necessary.

I'd like to report that George thinks Chirag is "so smart" . He is doing the work Chirag leaves him and is definitely more confident. I find him to always be punctual and polite and am very happy we found him.
We are very happy with Katie and her style. She is giving Blythe confidence and this week Blythe has completed her homework with much less assistance!
Sessions are going really well. Hasnat and Charlotte are building a good rapport. She is very happy with the sessions, and they are communicating well. So all good!
