We have all had the experience of a "bad teacher" and we know it's not pleasant. Often the teacher is simply a bad match for that particular student rather than being a "bad teacher" in general but in either case the student has a serious problem. This is why many parents contact us for a private tutor - their child just can't "get it" when their teacher is teaching. It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that...

It's incredible how one explanation results in more confusion whereas another results in that "aha" feeling we all love so much! It is really a matter of getting the "right" tutor and not the "best" one. We see this every day in our work. A tutor might have hundreds of hours of experience and might have received dozens of testimonials from students, however, even such a tutor doesn't click with all students. Every tutor gets bad feedback sometimes. It's all about getting the right fit and this is what we do!

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Saba is very quiet and listens attentively during class. She is not afraid to ask questions or admit if homework/exam is hard or not. She back checks her work very well making minimal grammatical and punctuation mistakes. She has good confidence in her writing. She doesn't take many notes during the class - I believe this is due to her young age and still requires adults to explain and show her what to do.
Excellent attitude and very friendly Significant efforts can be seen as James is keen to attempt all questions of all difficulty levels. Works effectively during the lessons and brings all previous notes as well as class notes for support.
Carly has no gaps in her knowledge of past content that we have identified yet. However, the last topic she covered (graphs of exponential and log functions) contained mostly new content, so we will be revisiting it briefly every now and then to ensure she continues to remember and understand it. Carly has no problem areas at the moment!

We are very happy with the way the tutoring is working out. Harry seems to have improved already and his confidence is on the way up, all good news. Lee has been excellent and Harry is very happy to work with him.
Sophie is very happy with Jane as a tutor. Jane is extremely diligent - we have the complication of the UK syllabi and Jane has taken a lot of trouble in her own time, to check up on what Sophie should be learning !
Hello and thank you for your email. We are happy with Philip's progress in these few weeks as you suggest I am sure more time is needed for him to be more confident . We are also happy with his tutor he is very well spoken, polite and gets on well with my son so far.
