Finding a suitable maths tutor for your child can be difficult. Where do you start? What do you look for? Experience? Personality? Someone local? Should they teach their own content or work on your child's current school work? How often should you have tutoring? How long should each session be? Is a particular time of the day more effective than other times? So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter....

So many questions, but, after years and years of experience, we can assure you there is no on-size-fits-all answer. Tuition is an individual matter. It's really about finding someone who is a good match for your specific situation. That means a good personality match + a teaching style that matches the student's learning style + a good balance between empathy and authoritativeness + many other things.
Unfortunately no tutor profile can tell you if the tutor will be a good match. You won't know that until you see them working together.
It usually doesn't take us more than a few days to organise a maths tutor in Mont Albert. And, we really want you to love your tutor! That's why your first lesson works as a trial. Don't think the match is good? We'll organise someone else...

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
This month, Mia has been clear about her understanding any misunderstandings in the course of Year 3 Maths. She has been quick to clarify any gaps in her understanding. She is also comfortable in recording her working out using paper and is strongly encouraged to continue this in future so as to develop her working out skills for higher years. Mia is encouraged to back check all the steps in her working out to be completely sure that each answer is correct.
Cordelia is a good student to teach and seems interested in the topic. She needs to have more confidence in herself when attempting questions instead of assuming she doesn't know the answer. This alone would greatly improve her mathematics skills. Cordelia is always available on time and has all the work she needs completed, with the work for that session ready and the room ready. During the session she seems is engaged and is asking lots of good questions. No concerns at all.
Ruby continues to work on understanding the concepts of the maths, rather than just applying rules, or relying on examples. Ruby needs to continue to work on gaining an understanding of the concepts behind the maths rules, so as she can more easily transfer the skills she has learnt to new areas.

We had been looking for a Maths tutor for my son for the HSC for some time with very limited success. Companies would indicate they were able to supply a tutor but when push came to shove there was either no one available or the booked tutor never showed up. In desperation I spoke to a friend who I knew had a tutor for her son. She recommended Ezy Math and indicated she was extremely happy with her son's tutor Faraz. Ezy Math were easy to get on to and able to find me a tutor for my son almost straight away. I was really pleased to be advised that the tutor was Faraz whom I had already heard good things about. Faraz contacted me and we were able to organise a suitable time. Faraz has done a fantastic job keeping my son motivated and on track. The point of the sessions for us was guided revision and to consolidate the learning that was happening in the classroom. Faraz was calm and patient and able to keep my son focussed. My son has indicated he felt the sessions were extremely useful, and really helped him to pull together what he needed for the exams. Feedback reports sent monthly let me know that Faraz felt things were on track and where improvement was needed. Invoicing and payment was easy and no fuss via the website. All in all I have been really pleased with Ezy Math and so has my son.
Lucy is wonderful. Dominique is participating well in the sessions and covering areas I feel she requires assistance in.
Things are going well. Chris is doing a very good job. Since the tutoring sessions, my daughter seems to be more positive and has stated that Chris is explaining the work well, which makes it easier to understand. I am confident that this was the right decision and can't wait to see the results.
