What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

The most rewarding part of tutoring is witnessing that specific instant when a concept a student has been struggling with suddenly clicks. Having recently finished the HSC myself, I know how frustrating it can be to feel stuck on a complex Extension 1 or 2 problem. I enjoy the challenge of deconstructing those intimidating topics into manageable steps and seeing a studentโ€™s frustration turn into genuine confidence

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

My strengths include the fact that im a strong organizer and planner which means i will always be able to successfully manage a large workload. I have in depth knowledge of my subjects and a flexible and adaptable style of teaching. This means that i can cater for all students regardless of their ability and my teaching will always be delivered in line with the syllabus.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

Show that I fulfil the mentor role, not just the "answer key" role. Beyond teaching formulas, a tutorโ€™s job is to build a student's self-belief. A tutor has to build foundational confidence for the student. Math is often a psychological hurdle. If a student believes they 'aren't a math person,' they stop trying. I aim to prove that they can solve it through guided practice. Teaching study autonomy is also key as a tutor. Itโ€™s important to provide the 'how' and 'why' rather than just the answer. I focus on teaching problem-solving frameworks that students can apply independently

About Dev

High-achieving maths graduate with fresh syllabus knowledge

Dev is a recent high school graduate with consistently strong results in advanced Mathematics, achieving marks in the top band range in both Extension 1 and Extension 2. He also earned commendations in several analytical subjects, showing a solid grasp of problem-solving and logical reasoning. Because he has completed the current syllabus himself, he understands exactly where students get stuck and how topics link together, making his explanations clear, relevant, and easy for primary and high school students to follow.

Proven peer tutor who explains step-by-step

During his senior years, this tutor regularly led younger students through maths topics in both informal settings and organised peer support sessions. He spent time breaking down complex ideas into simple steps, checking for gaps in understanding, and guiding students through exam-style questions rather than just giving answers. This experience helped him learn how to adjust his teaching style for different ability levels and build confidence in students who may be anxious or unsure about maths.

Patient, organised and relatable role model

Dev brings strong communication, time management and leadership skills from school group projects and club sports, where he often took responsibility for helping others stay on track. In tutoring sessions, he uses these skills to structure lessons clearly, set realistic goals, and keep students focused without overwhelming them. As someone close in age to high school students, he is relatable while still providing a calm, patient presence that encourages questions and celebrates small improvements along the way.
