What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
I enjoy tutoring, firstly because I know the struggle and frustration of not understanding something completely, and the amazing feeling of finally having it explained in a way that you understand, and I hope to be that person for students, as sometimes a different take on the problem can lead to the solution.
I also very much enjoy teaching and remembering why I chose the subjects that I chose in high school, and why I loved them and did them, and continued them into university, and I hope to share that with the student and bring out that love and enjoyment within them.
My Strengths as Tutor
I am a very patient person and believe that as a tutor, patience is one of the most important attributes to have. I am also very positive and do everything with a smile, and hope that will show students that being positive will help them succeed in school and in life.
Also, I do not play down the difficulty of the subjects, because I believe that it is incredibly discouraging for students and makes them feel like they'll never be able to succeed. I believe all students go at their own pace and I intend on helping each student at the pace that will help them the most.
Most important things I can do for a student
I think that encouraging students and listening to every question that they have will help them succeed in their chosen subjects. Making sure they don't feel discouraged because they don't understand but instead finding a different way to explain something to them, because not every explanation will click with each student. As a tutor it is up to us to adapt our knowledge and explanations so that each student can have the eye opening moment where they understand what they have struggled to understand.
