What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
I enjoy the process of developing the comprehension of ideas in students. It is gratifying to see how the students progress from being a novice at a subject to being confident in their abilities as the weeks progress.
My Strengths as Tutor
One of my strengths is my ability to adapt my tutoring style based off the needs of the student. I am good at changing, for example, from a detail-oriented style to a broad overview when it is clear that the student is having difficulty understanding the fundamentals of a topic.
Another strength of mine is my methodical and clear approach to lesson planning. In the first few weeks with a student, I am sure to find out the teaching schedule for the term so I can plan my lessons in advance. However, I keep a portion of the lesson for the student to focus on their main issues.
Most important things I can do for a student
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to equip them with the skills and confidence to approach new problems or ideas that they have never seen before. Such a skill can serve them well in all the subjects that they undertake.
