What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy breaking down the current situation a student is in so that I am able to get to the root of their problem and make it easier for them to cope with it. I love being able to have them understand where they are going wrong, or where they can improve, and seeing the joy on one's face when they are finally able to achieve something they previously felt was "impossible." Additionally, I enjoy being able to build a strong rapport with someone I am tutoring, as it builds their trust in me which makes them more capable of understanding my teaching.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths would be that I am very friendly and outgoing, and am comfortable around new people. This would help me as a tutor as I am to make people feel that they can trust me and my judgement, and are not afraid to ask questions that seem "dumb." Furthermore, I had tutors while in high school, so I understand certain things that tutors do may seem patronising or uncomfortable, which I aim to avoid. In this way, I make an effort to seem more friendly rather than an authority figure as I believe it entices a student to listen.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
One of the most important things for a tutor to do is genuinely listen to their student. Understanding what their actual concern is, and having a grasp on what they need help with the most, in my opinion, is what can most likely lead to the success of a student's learning. In addition, assuring that it is okay for the student to have a try, even if they are uncertain, is another key aspect of being a good tutor. This is due to confidence growing in the student, and allowing them to be more certain and assertive, trusting themselves and their skills so that they can grow.
