What do I enjoy most about tutoring?
I love engaging my students back in the learning experience and seeing it light them up and urge them forward.
What I find is that most of my students come to me when their confidence is low, or has taken some recent knocks. It is my job to put the pieces back together and remind the student that they can tackle everything in front of them. What students need is an environment that helps them build the courage to take those learning risks.
The satisfaction of watching the penny drop and the student grow in confidence is why I do what I do!
My Strengths as Tutor
My greatest strength is my adaptable communication style. I meet my student where they are and we build a plan to get them moving again.
My approachable and relatable manner connects instantly with students and our lessons are often filled with laughter and pointing, making it fun and engaging.
I take the intimidating out of academic endeavours and I turn it into a game of curiosity - which I have been told by both students and parents that they love!
Most important things I can do for a student
The most important thing that I can do for my students is help them find belief in themselves. Learning to 'learn' is more important than learning to 'know'. If you know how to learn in everything you do, what you can accomplish is infinite! If I can give a students the skills and resilience to ask their own questions and go in seek of the answers, there will be nothing they cannot achieve. That's what you call "long game", and those parents that are looking for more than just 'good grades' recognise it instantly.
