What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Enabling students to succeed.
I love the look on students' faces when they finally understand a topic or process that has been causing them difficulty or confusion, even distress, for some time: the look of relief, happiness and joy at being able to finally do something.
This is usually accompanied by the understanding that it is not their poor cognitive skills that are responsible.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Patience
Understanding that students learn in different ways
Knowing that some students think and understand quickly and others think more slowly and that this is not a reflection on their ability just the way they process
Experience and success in working with a wide range of different abilities and backgrounds
Complete integrity and trustworthiness as well as commitment to their learning
I have a current police check and working with children clearance
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Have an unshakeable faith in the knowledge that all students can succeed: have complete confidence in their ability
Work in cooperation with the student, lighten up, have fun
See beyond the immediate problem to address underlying issues: organisation skills, attitudes and previous experiences
Help generate a "helicopter view" of the material being studied: see links with other areas, how concepts are interrelated etc
Encourage enjoyment of learning by seeing beyond the boundaries to the subject/topic in general
Showing students that not knowing that not understanding is not "being stupid".
