What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I absolutely love when I can see my students go from timid and intimidated by the subject during the first lesson, to being excited and looking forward to completing challenging questions by their consequent lessons.
I love seeing my students excited when they finally understand that hard concept that they have been so stressed about in school. Their happiness and excitement when they start answering questions correctly and seeing their motivation towards that subject increase with every lesson they have with me, is what makes me more excited to teach.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I listen to student's particular issues and cater the lesson towards that issue, rather than just aimlessly explaining a topic. I also ask how they would like the structure of the lesson to be; whether they want to go through practice questions, or they would like a certain concept explained etc.
After I have explained a topic/concept, I "test" them by giving them questions to complete in front of me so I can fix any of their misunderstandings before they go home and study in an incorrect way.
I always ensure that my students are de-stressed/motivated by reassuring them with comforting words.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Cater the lesson specifically to that student's learning methods. For eg, if they learn better by doing practice questions, you should structure your lesson to be based around going through practice questions and how to solve them correctly, and if they learn better by having a topic explained to them, then that should be preferred over spending half the lesson doing questions.
It is important to set homework for that student to complete for the next lesson.
Furthermore, a calm, reassuring and non-monotonous tone should be used to motivate the student and maintain their interest throughout.
