### What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Helping. I just like helping. Whether it's building proficiency or confidence in a subject, I like supporting young people along their way. I especially like watching students "get" something (and listening to their wonderful thoughts and stories).

### My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I have a lot of knowledge (including a PhD in biology and an English teaching qualification) and it's a pleasure and a privilege to offer it to the next generation. I also have a lot of patience and methods of explaining things so students can take as little or as long as they need to understand.

### Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I know that learning is a personal adventure and that's why I try to make it fun and rewarding with a healthy balance of hand-holding and independent discovery.

Went WellTahlia is extremely bright and focused. She was well prepared for the lesson with mind maps, summaries and targeted questions. She requested examples of topics to help understand her problem areas and she understood quickly some difficult concepts like the control of ovarian cycle hormones and how to generate recombinant DNA.

Needs ImprovementShe's very self directed and just needs a few tweaks here and there to grasp complex issues. I strongly believe that, with minimal tutoring, she will forge ahead with leaps and bounds.

Needs ImprovementMemorisation of times tables (to the point of instant recall) will vastly improve Felix's abilities as it will free up mental space for him to fully focus on the current algebra/maths questions. We will continue to reveal tips and memory tricks in coming lessons. Rules for powers in algebraic equations which have not been (properly?) covered by his school maths (relief) teacher i.e. homework sheet given without explanation. We will work on this in coming lessons.

Went WellPowers became clearer as did hypothetical algebraic equations with addition, subtraction and multiplication.

Needs ImprovementSome times tables (e.g. 7 and 9) have not been memorised by rote learning and need sharpening. We started with the 3s and 9s and will continue with others as lessons allow. Felix identified factorising equations as a cloudy area so we will work on these in coming lessons.
