What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I think the most enoyable aspect of tutoring is the satisfaction that comes when a student has their lightbulb moment as a result of your teaching. In particular, this feeling is amplified when a student's confidence in the subject is increased after understanding a difficult concept. It's an exciting feeling being able to connect with a student and see their development after a series of sessions.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength as a tutor comes from my empathy to understand the student's frustration and struggles. This also ties in with my patience which has allowed me in the past to be more creative and ideate ways to simplify concepts by using more relatable examples. This process allows students to re-examine ideas through a different perspective.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is inspire students to continue learning. Although the role of a tutor largely revolves around teaching material in a new way, it is also important to help students understand why they're doing what they're doing. I believe that understanding the 'why' can often help consolidate concepts as well as motivate more questions. By engaging the students with questions, they will be more excited to learn and this can lead to a positive relationship to learning. Ultimately, this sets them up with the ability to tackle complex concepts on their own.
