What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I like to break down complex topics into manageable parts which are much easier to explain and understand. I enjoy teaching fundamental concepts and seeing how students develop through worked examples and progress to higher skill levels
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am more of visual learner so I do prefer to use lots of visual cues when teaching, using drawings, flow diagrams on power point slides. I have a keen sense for problem solving which probably peaked in my career around 2010 - 2011 when I commissioned 8 x 5kW AC/AC and DC/AC motor sets using AC and DC variable speed drives linked to the internet with iLab software so students could run prac experiments online 24/7. This complex commissioning process could only be started after reverse-engineering a lot of the design in order to correct a maze of wiring mistakes left behind by the electricians
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The student needs to have a clear vision of what possibilities are open to he or she. Having a goal to aim for helps a lot with developing a purpose for study and instilling self-confidence. Sometimes, without being overbearing, one has to give a few 'life coach' lessons to students who lack motivation.
