What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I loved the feeling of getting a test back and seeing the improvement when I was getting tutored, so I love helping to give that same feeling to others. I love when my students are surprised at a result, or their personal belief in themselves, going into a test. Also helping both students, and parents, to feel confident in their academic abilities - particularly when goals can feel out of reach at times.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
As I was tutored myself for many years and had a grade โglow upโ where I went from a D to B grade average, I understand how to make students not feel โsillyโ or โdumbโ, but to provide them tools and tricks to give them confidence in the subject.
I am patient and able to explain things in relatable ways, as well as provide examples, without doing the work for the student.
I aim to feel like a friend to the students, allowing them to trust me to help them.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
Sometimes getting tutored can feel embarrassing or humiliating to students, so it is vital that they are empowered and encouraged, without giving too much of a teacher-student dynamic, but just a friend who is going to help them. It is important for tutors to understand how students think and find ways to relate the problems/difficult subjects to them. I aim to find a common goal so I can achieve not just what the parents want to see, but the students too.
