Imparting the knowledge to student in a practical way not for grades .Imparting the personal willness to solve any type of problem.I consider these things as the most important things a tutor can do for a student. I just don't teach ,I will illustrate the problem in a pictorial way so that student will get an idea of what he is doing, later on I…

I think it's really important that a tutor is able to communicate and form a good relationship with students because it helps students feel more comfortable about asking questions and requesting help. It's also really important that a tutor never loses their temper and is always non-judgemental for those who struggle to understand certain…

Since this is a 1-on-1 tutorial, the tutor must give full attention to the student. Also to find ways to make sessions enjoyable but not to the point of sacrificing the time for teaching. And again to be patient so that the student can fully understand the topics being discussed. My best quality as a tutor would be my patience. I know a lot of…

I believe enthusiasm and passion are important for a tutor, as these qualities can give a student drive and motivation to learn and improve. I also believe a tutor should impart not just academic knowledge, but also studying strategies and problem solving skills that will help them in the future. I am organized and motivated, which will help me to…

Be friendly to the student, show the student that they are confident in them, allow the student to think for him/herself. A tutor should make the student understand the importance of anything they teach the student ,and make sure the student has grasped the concept in the most simplest way to the student. A tutor should understand that each…

From personal experience, I can undoubtly say that simply being able to answer any question in a comprehensive yet understandable way is the most important thing a tutor could do for a student. A tutor should understand the student's ability and capacity of learning. Then the tutor should teach the student in a particular way to make him understand the lesson in his unique way. One of the major thing a tutor can provide to its students is motivation to achieve their tasks. Personally I performed very well in school and college because of my tutor who used to teach me. Most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is being kind and patient. A teacher should always be creative and adopt to individual students learning style. I think as a tutor the most important thing I would be able to do for a student is to empower them and give them the tools necessary for their own learning. A tutor must be able to connect with the student on many different levels whilst in the mean time also convey the concepts and ideas of the curriculum. I also believe that the tutor has a subjective responsibility toward each student, to be able to tailor a style of teaching for them because no two students are, or learn alike. My main strength as…

For me a tutor isn’t there to show student how to do the question but to guide them through it, make remarks on comment mistakes. Therefore I know most the…

I believe that tutors should put their learner's motivation above all values, tutors should ensure that their learners believe they can achieve higher, individuals will not be motivated to learn if they do not believe in themselves, therefore I believe that first and foremost aspect a tutor must focus is the learner's mindset for their work.…

A tutor typically works 1-on-1, therefor it's important to treat each student as an individual and figure out what style of learning works best for them. A tutor should collaborate with the student to help them reach academic heights that they would not be able to with regular schooling alone. I am positive, encouraging, but also thorough. I am…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to take the time to understand who the student is. not every student learns the same way and the only way to effectively help someone is to take the time to know them first. William is excited as he is learning more with Bailey than with his math's teacher. Baileys methods are easy to follow and very helpful. Bailey is always on time and puts in 110%. After every session, you can see the smile on William's face and his new found confidence. We are very impressed and very lucky to have Bailey tutor William.

Inside CranbourneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student worked on adding three- and four-digit numbers using written strategies.

In Year 9, Grace explored essay planning for "The Women of Troy" and practised writing a body paragraph to improve her text response structure.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Akshara focused on language analysis skills by examining persuasive techniques in articles from class and developing structured responses based on those examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student preparing for science exams was advised to spend time reviewing detailed content—like types of decay and function transformations—but "a couple mistakes when trying to substitute transformations" showed that small calculation errors crept in when steps were skipped.

Meanwhile, a VCE English student left her oral presentation work very late, resulting in over-reliance on casual arguments rather than researched evidence; she struggled to convert plans into full paragraphs under deadline pressure.

For a younger Year 7 learner, untidy written maths working sometimes made it hard to spot where sign or calculation slips had happened.

Recent Achievements

A Cranbourne tutor recently noted that a Year 12 student, Tapson, who previously hesitated with physics application questions, managed to solve a complex problem independently on heat transfer after working through analogies together.

Another high schooler, Manasvi, showed real initiative by completely revising her oral presentation's conclusion without prompting—last week she'd struggled to keep arguments concise, but this time she shaped her speech to fit strict time limits.

In primary years, Hannah used to guess at multiplication tables; now she quickly answers negative number problems and even tackles basic algebra unaided.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cranbourne Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Agatha's School.
