Treat each student as an individual person. The same methods of tutoring might not apply on the other. Moreover patience is necessary. Tutors should maintain a pace comfortable for the student. Tutors should be humble enough to admit if they don't know few answers and should be able to research and provide the answers to the student. I learn…

Its similar to teach a person how to fish instead giving them fish to eat. If student learn how to learn on their own, how to solve problems, and what should be the approach to a problem then it is more than…

Inside KewTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Annie revised linear equations and explored polynomials and real functions, using worked examples to clarify each step.

In Year 9, Lenny tackled trigonometry concepts with a focus on SOH CAH TOA and also reviewed past tests covering linear equations.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Ethan practiced times tables (3s and 4s) alongside school homework on multiplication, supporting accuracy through repeated exercises.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, a student's stress during tests led to misreading questions and answering incorrectly—"she misread the condition or questions, hence wrote down the wrong answer." She was encouraged to highlight key words and practice under timed conditions.

In Year 9 Maths, messy or incomplete working made isolating variables in equations harder; a tutor noted that neater layout would help track steps for midpoint and distance tasks.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student hesitated to show written working in mixed fraction subtraction due to fear of mistakes, which slowed improvement and left gaps when reviewing errors together.

Recent Achievements

A Kew tutor noticed that a Year 10 student, after previously relying heavily on step-by-step guidance, now solves simultaneous equations using the elimination method with much more independence and even asks for extra practice when unsure.

In senior Chemistry, another high schooler who used to hesitate with equilibrium questions is now confidently tackling harder examples and did especially well on their first SAC, showing clear improvement since last term.

Meanwhile, in primary maths, Annie moved from needing help with multiplying and dividing fractions to gradually answering these on her own by the end of the session.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kew Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kew Primary School.
