I believe a tutor's role is to help students truly understand what they're learning, build their confidence, and develop skills they can use beyond the classroom. I'm patient and adaptable, and I take the time to explain concepts in different ways until they really make sense to the student. I try to create an encouraging space where they feel…

An open environment, a student should not feel embaressed when asking questions or having a problem with their school work. This can be a problem sometimes in a classroom environment as some children may riddicule the child. This open environment is important for a tutor as the student should feel open to ask questions without peer judgement. A…

The one thing more than anything that a tutor can do is to offer a safe place where students will not be afraid of failure. Then guide them step by step until they understand the concept, and encourage them to carry on even when things get difficult. A good tutor gives confidence and no knowledge. My strength as a tutor will be like 1.Clear…

I think to be dependable and reliable is the best thing for a student, so that they can feel safe with asking for help from their tutor. Inside North ParramattaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Jack worked on revising long-form subtraction, as well as developing his understanding of fractions and ratios.

For Year 10, Sophie tackled simultaneous equations using both substitution and elimination methods, alongside practice in manipulating linear equations into gradient-intercept form with worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Maya focused on financial maths concepts such as compound interest and interpreting investment graphs, plus explored appreciation and inflation calculations within real-world contexts.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student's written working for algebra—especially when changing the subject—was often "minimal and messy," making it hard to spot sign errors or follow her logic in multi-step equations.

In Year 8, forgetting to complete assigned homework on a crime fiction short story left gaps in feedback and momentum heading into the next class.

For a senior English student, delays finishing research tasks meant ideas were sometimes underdeveloped when drafting essays.

During a Year 7 maths session, over-reliance on doing calculations mentally led to steps being skipped; confusion with unit conversions lingered during measurement problems as a result.

Recent Achievements

A North Parramatta tutor recently saw a Year 11 student move from hesitating over "changing the subject" in equations to confidently working through those questions with far less prompting, even managing some complex blood alcohol content problems independently.

Another high schooler who used to skip essay planning now arrives with research notes and a self-chosen topic, showing clear initiative and more structured arguments during English sessions.

In primary, one younger student who previously rushed through maths steps is now carefully setting out each calculation line by line—last session, she completed all her area questions neatly without missing a step.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Dundas Valley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Redeemer Baptist School.
