I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is to inspire confidence in the student. It's not just about teaching concepts, but helping the student believe in their own ability to understand and apply them. A good tutor should adapt their methods to suit each students learning style, making lessons clear, engaging, and enjoyable. It's also…

A tutor should do more than simply teach a subject for a student. A tutor is an individual that can encourage others to act at their best, this can be in the academic field but can extend to other aspects of life as well. A tutor's most important goal should always be understanding, and if possible, relating to the circumstances of each of their…

The most important thing a tutor can do for the student is understand the student's mind and help them achieve their goal. The tutor can help them achieve their goal if they have difficulties and help them understand the basic concept. My strength as a tutor is the most important aspect of understanding the student. I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is make the student feel truly listened to. When a student feels heard and understood, they gain confidence. I also believe it's about helping them fall in love with the subject not just memorise it. If they can connect with the topic and see its value or beauty in some way, learning becomes…

I believe the most important thing is to allow the student to share the same passion and interest for the subject, since that is the biggest factor for inciting motivation within the student to keep going. I am very patient, so if a student isn't fully understanding a topic even after multiple explanations, I wouldn't get frustrated, but instead…

I think first and foremost is adaptability. 2. Discipline comes after once you get adapted. 3. Communication with easing out the complex concepts. 4. Listening their problems and catering on them. 5. A teacher has to be patient while working with a student 6. At last but not least, humility is one of the most important thing when it comes…

I think the most important thing a tutor should do is understand the learning pattern and style of the student. Every student learns differently, simply using one method is not enough. As I try to see, I try to understand how different students learn and understand different content. Through the process, i try to find what is the most optimal way…

I think not just to teach but to integrate the mathematics into their brain. Ways to do this include repetition, paraphrasing and getting them to say things back to me in their own words, these three things are extremely important so that they don't jut forget things when I leave. I think the first and most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to identify their strengths or weaknesses. This allows both the student and the tutor to have a clear vision of where the student is sitting now. From this point, the tutor can then construct a suitable study goal with the student and build up their knowledge step by…

We have only just started using Ezy Maths Tutoring but so far, I cannot fault them. Our tutor is fantastic, we are already seeing positive results with our daughter after just 2 sessions. The customer service so far has been great also.
Mel, Wantirna

Inside WantirnaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Zoey reviewed solving quadratic equations using the discriminant and completing the square, and practiced finding turning points as well as applying Pythagoras' theorem and basic trigonometry.

For Year 10, Michael focused on consolidating his understanding of indices and surds alongside additional practice with quadratics and trigonometry problems.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Lily worked through bearings and unit circle concepts in trigonometry, using diagrams to help visualise angle relationships.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 maths, one student hesitated to attempt unfamiliar problems unless the exact solving method was already known, which led to slow progress and "waiting for external help."

In Year 11, a lack of attention to detail in financial maths homework—"one mixed-up tax step affected all answers"—meant time was spent correcting errors rather than building confidence.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student often avoided writing rough working in new topics; her written solutions became jumbled and hard to follow.

Across both primary and senior levels, relying on old examples or replicating steps sometimes blocked true understanding when faced with novel tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Wantirna tutor noted a big shift in a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to ask for help; after struggling with algebra, she recently approached her teacher independently about a tricky maths problem and could explain where she was stuck.

A high schooler who had always needed prompting to check her work is now catching and correcting her own mistakes during homework review, showing much more self-reliance.

In Year 4, Maya started explaining out loud how perimeter measures the outside of shapes versus area inside—a real change from before when she mixed up the two and wouldn't talk through her thinking.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Knox Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Yea High School-Chinese Community Centre.
