Listen, I feel that I need to hear what they struggle with and why they think they are unable to do as well as they would like. From their we can use their strengths to help improve their weaker parts of their school work. I understand where the students are coming from. I was not a top 1% student in high school. I have been able to find a way to…

A tutor should treat every students equally. Motivate slow learners and help them improve their learning. Patience is very important and never get angry repeating the same response for those who have trouble grasping the concept. Ready to lend ears to their queries. Make learning easier so that they can enjoy learning. I have always noticed myself…

A tutor must be patient as well as motivating for their students. They must be organised and have a well structured plan to support their students while still being open to their ideas and opinions. The tutors must also be good problem solvers in order to assist students with their studies. An effective tutor will always encourage independence and…

The most important things a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be able to engage them and helping them to gain confidence in tackling problems. It is also important to acknowledge that everyone has their own way of learning. What works for one student might not work for the other, and that is okay. So finding new and interacting ways of…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to listen to them carefully and attentively showing all engagement towards the student. This allows the tutor to understand what is difficult and what is easier for the student and at the same time displays to the student that the tutor cares and wants to better the student's life.…

Most students want to get through the next exam, but I also consider it important that knowledge and skills are reinforced and retained for years, if not for life. Because I've studied chemistry, I have a broad grasp of sciences from biology to physics and maths, and can help students link related concepts in a reinforcing manner. I've also worked…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to offer them quality information and direct feedback on their work and areas of struggle. Additionally, a tutor should be humble such that they do not impose their own ideas onto a student, but rather walk alongside the student's journey of learning. This helps to establish a…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be patient. One has to understand that every child has different ways of learning as well as the pace at which they learn. Therefore, a tutor should be perfectly fine with repeating a thing many times. A tutor should also be judgement free during the tutoring process as this…

The single most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be patient. Everyone learns things at different rates and some things may come more easily than others. If the tutor becomes frustrated it only ends up discouraging and demoralising the student which further affects their study and confidence. Hence, it is vital for a…

I believe that the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to always be there for them. As teachers/tutors, it is not all about educating them in core subjects but being there for them through rough times. We have all experienced what it is like to be a student and sometimes they go through some difficult situations and I…

The most important that a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be the best friend of that student. If you know the student well enough, that student will begin to enjoy studying and being able to perform great academically. I believe that is the…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to make sure a student can fully understand topics that have previously been difficult. The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to not spoon feed information, its the art of teaching the child to a degree where it helps them but doesnt answer the entire thing. To me, one of the most important things a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to be open and encouraging. Everyone (not only kids) gets embarrassed and scared to ask questions when they don't know what to do -- its our job to make sure they feel safe enough to ask so that they can fully grasp everything in their minds. If one of my students…

As a tutor is paid to improve a student's grades and so that's the underlying aim. But what a tutor should really do is teach a student how to learn better and improve. That means reminding them to proofread, read the criteria sheet before and after researching, and set up study plans that work with them (if that's palm cards, end of the week…

A tutor can provide personalised teaching to students that would not be available in a big classroom environment. A tutor also provides a safe space for students free of judgement where they can ask questions they might not get the chance to ask in class. Tutors also relate to the students and instill a level of confidence that truly improves…

I believe in preparing a student to handle situation which the world throws at any point of time. Inside Carole ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ella worked on solidifying multiplication skills with the column method and was introduced to division strategies, often using mental calculations and timed activities.

In Year 10, Jay revised linear relations by tackling exercise-based questions on graphing and clearing doubts about equations.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Olivia focused on advanced probability density functions and practiced different integral types, deepening her understanding through worked examples and application tasks.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7 mathematics, one student's written work during long division and formula application was often messy and hard to follow, making it difficult to pinpoint where errors occurred; as a tutor observed, "the layout of working out needs to be neater."

In Year 10 biology, another student repeatedly left homework incomplete and fell behind on key content—this led to confusion when revising Specht's Classification.

During a senior physics draft session, feedback was not always acted upon promptly, which slowed improvement between drafts. The sense of being unprepared lingered at the start of each new topic.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Carole Park recently saw a Year 11 student shift from hesitating with calculus to independently working out the expected value and percentiles for probability density functions—something she'd previously needed step-by-step guidance for.

In Year 9, another student who used to stay quiet during lessons has started talking aloud through problems and now regularly asks questions when confused, which is a big change from just guessing answers before.

Meanwhile, a younger student in Year 5 managed to quickly tell the time using phrases like "quarter to" without prompting, then ordered several times correctly on her own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Inala Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Camira State School.
