English Tutor Box Hill, NSW
I offer an early start for future legal, economics and business HSC students, which ensures they are ahead of time and build an understanding of the content prior to their senior year commencement. Through my experiences as a student and an english tutor, I believe connecting and sharing the burdens experienced by students is very important as it…

To be a mentor - a backup or second person to help and support them. Someone who can assist them in achieving their desired goals. A tutor should know the most important part of their position is fundamentally to be that helping guide. I am passionate and willing. I enjoy sharing my thought process and making things easier for someone else by…

Make their learning easier. This world is too complicated for students from a young age, and on top of that the pressure of studies and exams, feel like a lot. So by helping to make their studies easier and fun is what I think is the most important I think my strengths as a tutor is making my students comfortable around me, and helping them learn…

Local Reviews

Jaya has a gentle but firm way with Charli who really struggles with confidence in her maths. Charli has come ahead leaps and bounds in her abilities over the last year and that is definitely due to Jaya's guidance and support. I would highly recommend Jaya to anyone who is looking for support for their child.

Inside CattaiTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Hannah focused on solving linear equations and understanding factorisation in algebra, as well as reviewing ratios for her maths assessment.

For Year 10, Jacob worked through financial mathematics including commission and hourly rates, alongside practice with linear equations.

In Year 11, Olivia concentrated on Business Studies topics such as the role of marketing and the strategic function of marketing, also learning how to write a structured business report using case studies for real-world context.

Recent Challenges

A Year 7 student repeatedly needed reminders to focus during English, especially when tired—focus started to drop towards the end of the lesson and was talking a lot while we were doing English.

In another session, incomplete homework and lack of revision led to difficulty recalling human rights basics in HSIE.

For a senior Business Studies student, notes show that failing to maintain regular note-taking and revision created extra work before exams: content had to be relearned instead of consolidated.

Meanwhile, an upper primary student struggled with algebra as she avoided writing out her working, slowing improvement in factorization tasks.

Recent Achievements

One Cattai tutoring session saw a Year 10 student, who used to second-guess herself with linear equations, now independently graphing equations and clearly explaining how triangles are similar.

In Year 11 Business Studies, a student shifted from simply memorising facts to actively applying concepts to real-world case studies—demonstrating sharp analytical skills under exam conditions.

Meanwhile, a younger primary learner who previously hesitated when reading aloud is now checking her answers out loud for every data question, showing new self-assurance and care in her work.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hawkesbury Central Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cattai Public School.
