Be patient. Explaining the concept as many times as needed with the same enthusiasm to ensure to student understands clearly without feeling any sense of embarrassment. I believe I am outgoing and kind, able to easily strike up a conversation and allow people to feel comfortable talking to me. I think this can be very beneficial as a tutor to…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to assist them to create and meet their personal academic goals, rather than just working on higher grades. This can also include a tutor sharing academic experiences in achieving their goals to allow a student to see if the tutor is right for their specific circumstance. I think the…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen. Given that a lot of students seek tutors out because of inadequate classroom teachers, it's critical to understand the needs of the student and construct lessons and content in a way that is going to cater to their weaknesses and actually test their skills or fill gaps properly…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is create an environment where the student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Additionally, it is also important to keep students accountable and make sure they are up to date. One of my biggest strengths is that I’ve just come out of VCE myself, so the content, exam…

The most important thing is to build a consistent connection the expression, “in one ear out the other’ is common amongst the younger students study shows of you have a connection they are able to retain more information with the connection. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to understand their students and the way they learn! This means bringing up different approaches to studying if one does not work for the student and ensuring that they are listened to and supported at all time! Tutors should not shame their students and work on more than just achieving…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them towards a position of personal and academic growth. Irrespective of whether the students growth is minuscule or large, any sort of development should be rewarded. Thus, it is the role of a tutor to assist their student(s) to cultivate the ability to progress. I would say my…

The most important think a tutor can do is teach, not tell. Its easy to give information, tips for studying etc, but to get the student to pay attention, be attentive and actively learn is a different story. A student that can do that will not only get better grades, do well in school etc, but also find what they are passionate about in that area.…

One of the most important things that a tutor can do for a student is to provide feedback. I am a firm believer in learning from your mistakes and often I find that students are provided with extensive amounts of work, however their feedback is often passed onto them rather than discussed with them. I think it is just as important to explain to…

The most important thing a tutor can do is make understand the exact areas of difficulties a student has, and aims to help them without being judgemental or rushing the student to understand the concept. Inside Clyde NorthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student Caim worked through Cambridge Chapters 2A and 2B, focusing on bivariate data introduction and investigating associations between categorical variables using practical examples.

Year 7 Ashraf completed spelling tests targeting commonly misspelled words and suffixes, then practiced TEEL paragraph structure in responses to reading comprehension texts.

For primary support, a Year 3 student took an English assessment covering reading skills and tackled worksheets on irregular verbs and helping verbs for grammar reinforcement.

Recent Challenges

Homework completion has been inconsistent, especially in recent sessions—English homework was not submitted for both Year 7 and Year 9 tasks.

"Needs to do homework; is neglecting it," one tutor noted after a missed assignment.

Written work frequently lacked structure and clarity, with paragraphing issues seen in a Year 8 narrative piece, and wordy sentences affecting Year 10 essay responses.

Distraction during lessons remains common: a Year 7 student repeatedly lost focus while reading comprehension tasks, requiring several prompts to return to task.

Frustration after errors sometimes led to reluctance when attempting more challenging questions in senior English.

Recent Achievements

One Clyde North tutor noticed a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to ask for help now confidently questions until he fully understands tricky English concepts, leading to more accurate and thoughtful worksheet responses.

In a recent high school session, another student took real initiative by editing her own writing for errors before the tutor checked it—a shift from waiting passively in earlier lessons.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner showed newfound independence by correcting his spelling mistakes on his own after reading aloud, then chose harder words for extra practice without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cranbourne Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Clyde Creek Primary School - Specialist Campus.
