Most important thing for any tutor is to understand their student well. If they know the students quite well only then they could develop the educational materials and classes that caters the student's need. Next big thing is encouraging the students and help them maintain a positive attitude. Only if the student is motivated and have positive…

Tutors have two roles, One is to actively support the student who might be struggling to cope up with their peers and/or looking to improve their performance. The second is to make the student learn in a different environment from their school. Schools have multiple children and every child has some issue they are facing. As a tutor sitting 1-1…

For me, the most important thing a tutor can provide a student is confidence. It is paramount that a tutor encourages the student to become intrinsically motivated to study and to cultivate a love for the subject, as this will allow the student to fully achieve their potential. Ensuring that a student has confidence and self belief can be just as…

A tutor plays a crucial role in shaping the moral values and basic manners of a student's life. Although tutoring primarily focuses on academics, I believe that tutors can significantly influence a student's overall development. Rather than treating the class as a whole, a tutor should give individual attention to each student, understanding their…

The most important part of tutoring is passion for sharing knowledge. Inside ComoTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Daniel worked on mastering multiplication tables up to 12 and practiced reading and drawing times on analog clocks.

For Year 8, Jessica focused on solving equations algebraically—showing all steps clearly—and revised lowest common denominators in fractions.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Liam tackled index laws through targeted practice questions and explored exponential functions, applying rules to different sequences.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student preparing for a test struggled with time management—she ran out of time to check answers in algebra, so small sign errors went unnoticed.

In Year 8 maths, messy working and unclear layout led to confusion during fraction calculations, making it harder to spot calculation slips or follow the method.

For a Year 3 learner, organization was an issue; forgetting their math notebook meant important notes weren't recorded, impacting revision later.

Meanwhile, a senior student focused mostly on easy textbook questions in Venn Diagrams and neglected the tougher ones, missing out on vital exam practice.

Recent Achievements

One Como tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's willingness to do homework; after weeks of leaving tasks unfinished, he arrived at his session with practice questions completed and specific areas ready for discussion.

A Year 11 student who previously hesitated to ask for help came prepared this week with her own list of questions about index laws and even requested harder examples on scientific notation.

In primary, one student who'd been mixing up hours and minutes on an analog clock finally explained the difference without prompting, then drew the correct time twice in a row during the lesson.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as South Perth Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Collier Primary School.
