The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to make sure that they understand the content and can answer text or exam-style questions or excel in school work. The job of a tutor is to prepare students and give them extra help where it is necessary and ensure that the student has understood and learned the knowledge that they…

Confidence is a key element that tutors can either instil or take away from a student. All children are born with a capacity to learn and it is our job to help them realise their great potential. In saying that, tutors must always be kind, encouraging and supportive of a child so that they can be confident enough to venture into the unknown and…

I believe that the most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to assist them in developing the relevant skills that they need to be successful and proficient in a subject, to the point in which they have enough confidence within their own abilities to approach the curriculum without feeling that they require extra assistance.…

A tutor should be able to lift the confidence of a student; with the ability to detect their strengths, as well as listing potential weaknesses so that there is a level of realism when analysing one's raw ability in a subject. I have the ability to break concepts into small parts to increase the level of understanding for a student. Paired with my…

The most important things an english tutor can do for a student are provide academic guidance, human connection, and consistency, and the combination of these factors can potentially reinvent a class, subject, or school more broadly for a young learner. Some of my greatest strengths are that I'm very energetic and patient. I lean on these…

To help encourage them to try there best. Everyone wants 100% but they may not necessarily get it. A tutor has to help a student reach their own version of 100%, to put in all their effort, enjoy their work, and be proud. My strength is I am a people person, I get along well with others and enjoy teaching others. My weakness is I don't have any…

To learn the nature of the student's mind and how their brain processes information, so that a lesson plan can be tailored to their specific needs. There are many ways an individual can learn, and the most valuable thing an english tutor can do is explain the information in a way that connects with the student's own learning capabilities. A tutor…

I have been using Ezy maths from the past three years now. Even though moving houses was a challenge but my sons tutoring needs were well taken care of and he had a smooth transit with his tutor. The tutor Mandeep singh is fantastic and always goes an extra mile with my son!!! I will surely recommend the company.

Inside DoreenTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Ava focused on simplifying and adding surds, then applied her skills to multiplying surds for area calculations.

Year 9 student Liam worked through rationalising denominators with surds and using fractional indices, as well as solving linear equations and interpreting straight line graphs.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student tackled subtraction, addition, and multiplication questions in preparation for NAPLAN numeracy, along with practising long division and timetables using school worksheets.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, he skips over steps instead of slowly working through them, making it hard to spot where small calculation errors occur.

A Year 10 student was reminded that relying on a calculator for multiplication and division masked gaps in mental arithmetic; this showed up when classwork required speed without aids.

During VCE preparation, one student's incomplete revision booklet meant missing exposure to unfamiliar question types—on practice tests, this led to hesitation and lost marks.

In English (Year 7), difficulty organising essay drafts resulted in scattered ideas, making it tough to translate thoughts clearly onto the page.

Recent Achievements

One Doreen tutor noticed a big change in a Year 9 student who used to freeze up at factorisation but, after some focused practice, began recognising patterns and using the common method without hesitation—she even asked for extra examples.

In Year 11 maths, another student who'd struggled with logarithms was able to tackle extension questions independently once he grasped the basics, surprising himself by explaining his process out loud.

Meanwhile, a younger primary learner who always avoided times tables started organising her worksheets neatly and handed in all her homework on time for the first week ever.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mernda Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Plenty Valley Christian College.
