Tutoring is essentially an aid for student's learning in schools. The most important thing that a physics tutor can do is to ignite students' passion for learning. This can be acheived through helping them with questions and concepts that they find confusing, guiding them to develop their own problem solving strategies and most importantly…

Physics Tutor Brinsmead, QLD
The most important thing that a physics tutor can do for a student is to engage the student in a way which makes them want to keep learning that specific subject if not fall in love with it. At the end of the day motivation must come from the student themself and as a tutor I believe it is my job to help the student find that motivation. I believe…

Physics Tutor Westcourt, QLD
I personally believe that for a physics tutor to be effective, they have to be willing to listen to, and learn from, the individual that they are working with. There is always more than one way to teach a specific skill, and, as a result of this, it is important to work together to find the most effective methods. I think that it is important to…

I believe that the most important thing for a tutor is to form a positive relationship which helps to push the student further than they believed they possibly could before. I believe that my strengths as a tutor will be to see where a student is struggling. From here I will be able to further help them by ensuring that they full understand the…

Inside Edge HillTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Layla worked on calculating wages and simple interest, using real-life examples to apply these financial maths skills.

For Year 8, Eve focused on basics of trigonometry—finding side lengths and angle values in triangles—as well as revising the Pythagoras theorem with targeted practice questions.

Meanwhile, Will in Year 9 spent sessions reviewing algebraic equations and practising expansion and factorisation of brackets to strengthen his understanding before upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7, one student repeatedly arrived without necessary materials—"lost previous homework sheet so had to spend lesson going through it again"—which meant class time was spent on old tasks rather than progressing.

A Year 10 student's messy assignment formatting and unclear working made calculations hard to follow; minor errors crept in when interpretation wasn't double-checked.

In senior maths, incomplete homework was common: "did not complete her assigned HW from the previous lesson," which left gaps in understanding complex equations and slowed feedback cycles.

Forgetting gear or missing practice directly interrupted momentum during revision for all levels.

Recent Achievements

One Edge Hill tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student who, after struggling to apply formulas independently, started tackling textbook questions on her own and even applied her skills to complex problems without prompting.

In another session, a high schooler who previously waited for guidance began bringing her own work for test prep and asked targeted questions about tricky areas—showing real initiative compared to earlier lessons.

Meanwhile, a primary student who used to need help with division surprised the tutor by working through division problems solo and then asked for extra practice with worded percentage questions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manunda Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Edge Hill State School.
