So knowing them can help the student grow in their studies. I am currently studying a Bachelors of Education (Secondary) and Bachelors of Science, as such I have both the theoretical…

I think it is extremely important for a chemistry tutor to be adaptable. Different students have differing learning styles and needs, and therefore, to help different students, you need to be able to tailor your tutoring to individualised approaches. Furthermore, rather than just giving the children the answers, as a tutor it is important to be…

This is because most of the time students self doubts leads to them struggling with content not a lack of ability. I create strategies to help my students remember content easier and I make…

Inside ElthamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ethan focused on mastering long multiplication and division, along with strategies for working with fractions.

Year 10 Callum spent sessions revising factorising non-monic quadratics and applying algebra skills to simultaneous equations, often using worked examples from past tests.

For Year 11 student Ruby, recent lessons targeted exponentials and their graphs as well as challenging exam-style questions involving exponents and logarithms to strengthen her Methods understanding.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 algebra, one student often relied on mental calculations and skipped writing out steps—"he tries to do too much work in his head," a tutor noted—leading to muddled errors that slowed progress.

In senior years, a lack of consistent revision was clear: missed homework and incomplete summary notes meant key methods for trigonometry and probability weren't embedded, especially when tests approached quickly.

A drop in motivation after falling behind left another student unsure where to restart; the result was gaps in understanding that made even familiar material feel unfamiliar under exam pressure.

Recent Achievements

One Eltham tutor noticed a big shift with Eric (Year 10), who used to leave maths homework unfinished but now tackles it early, using his parents and a friend as resources—he even made only minor mistakes this week.

In Year 11 chemistry, Callum has started engaging much more actively; he now jumps into tutor-led questions about wave interference instead of waiting for hints.

Meanwhile, Anna (Year 6) has begun fixing her own mistakes right after spotting them—last session she quickly self-corrected errors on literal equations without any prompting and finished the set independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Eltham Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady Help of Christians School.
