All students need a little help, a little hope, and somebody who believes in them. That somebody is definitely their tutor. Tutors do not just give out answers, they want students to understand how to do the work on their own. Tutoring is a huge liability as your students look upon you as a mentee and a good tutor never lets them down.…

Although it is of course important for a physics tutor to academically support each and every student, I think it is equally if not more important for a tutor to provide emotional support. A tutor must make sure they are empathetic and understanding towards any struggles their students are going through, and be willing to provide additional…

In my perspective, the most important things a physics tutor can do for a student are as follows: 1.Create a positive and supportive learning environment. 2.The tutor should collaborate with the student to set clear and achievable learning objectives. 3. When teaching complex subjects, tutors should break down information into smaller, more…

I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to help guide them in a non-intrusive and non-judgmental way. Every student has their own path in life and they all may be in different places on that path. The best thing a tutor can do for a student is help them think about where they want to go on that path beyond just…

Maria, Eynesbury

Inside EynesburyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ray reviewed all multiplication tables for fluency and tackled BODMAS with multi-step numerical expressions, then explored statistics by learning mean, median, and mode in preparation for an upcoming test.

Year 10 Aiden focused on applying the Pythagorean theorem and solving perimeter problems using real-world examples, followed by further practice with surface area calculations and problem-solving strategies.

For Year 11 Math, Jack worked through quadratic equations—including worded problems—and deepened his understanding of trigonometry concepts, revising thoroughly ahead of a major assessment.

Recent Challenges

In a recent Year 11 Maths session, exam panic became clear—despite strong understanding, nerves led to missed steps under time pressure ("he panics in exams, maybe try some relaxing techniques as he is very confident with his materials").

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student avoided tackling challenging worded BODMAS problems, admitting low interest meant he "can feel lost and unsure" when faced with unfamiliar formats.

For one upper-primary learner, subtraction tasks revealed that messy handwriting made working difficult to follow and errors harder to spot.

Each scenario left confidence dented or progress slowed at key moments.

Recent Achievements

One Eynesbury tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student who, after struggling to catch up from COVID disruptions, is now working through revision tasks much faster and even volunteers to try harder questions—something he hesitated with before.

In Year 11, a student who previously found simultaneous equations confusing has started solving them independently during sessions, only checking answers at the end.

A primary student made real headway with fractions; where she once guessed or skipped tricky ones, she now confidently converts denominators and checks her own work without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manor Lakes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Eynesbury Primary School.
