My son is more confident with Math after his first tutoring session! Really clicked with the tutor who is fantastic and communicates with me regularly to let me know how the sessions are going

Inside IpswichTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Grace worked on the four times table and solved multiplication word problems, as well as explored odd and even numbers using real-life examples.

Year 7 student Dylan focused on calculating area and volume, including unit conversions for practical measurement tasks.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Ava practiced factorising algebraic expressions and completed exercises to consolidate her understanding of simplifying expressions in preparation for classwork.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4 Maths, one student's tendency to attempt calculations mentally—especially near lesson end—led to repeated sign mix-ups ("she continuously mistakes the plus sign for the multiplication sign"), with errors compounding as focus waned.

A lack of confidence in written working showed up during assessments; hesitancy to make mistakes sometimes meant she would "not say anything when she can't figure it out."

In a recent senior English session, another student arrived without her homework booklet and admitted reluctance because "they were repetitive," resulting in unfinished tasks and lost learning opportunities. These habits directly affected progress and left some skills unpractised.

Recent Achievements

One Ipswich tutor noticed a big shift in Harrison's engagement: after previously hesitating to read aloud, he began reading sections of his report out loud and self-correcting when he stumbled—a clear step forward in independence.

Ashlee, who used to struggle with spelling tests, recently achieved a perfect score and could use new words in sentences without prompting.

Meanwhile, Isla demonstrated much stronger maths fluency by completing over 14 single-decimal subtraction questions in just eight minutes—an impressive improvement from her slower pace before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ipswich Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like The BUSY School - Ipswich Campus.
