English Tutor Tragowel, VIC
A good tutor can inspire the student to learn. A good tutor can help the student to realise his potential and apply what he is taught confidently and effectively. A good tutor can help make the subject more interesting for the student to learn. I focus on the base of the concepts rather than what is written in the book. I like to build the base…

Inside Kerang EastTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Zane worked on applying the order of operations in maths and practiced English comprehension by responding in full sentences.

In Year 8, Jack revised Pythagoras' theorem and linear equations using targeted problems, as well as explored how to summarise research information in his own words for English.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Emily tackled drawing boxplots with the CAS calculator—identifying outliers via IQR—and completed a regression analysis by fitting trendlines and interpreting residuals.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's English homework was incomplete this week, which meant "learning objectives couldn't be finished," so text analysis practice stalled.

In Year 12 Maths Methods, a missed opportunity to review a past test arose when the student couldn't locate it; as noted, "we were unable to find it," limiting feedback and targeted revision before assessments.

For a Year 6 maths task on long division, skipping key steps in written working made teacher checks difficult and left errors unnoticed.

A Year 11 student revised only familiar matrix concepts instead of practicing inverse functions—so knowledge gaps persisted into the next session.

Recent Achievements

One Kerang East tutor noted a big step for Sienna (Year 12), who was initially unsure about using transition matrices in worded problems; by session's end, she could confidently interpret and calculate percentage changes with minimal prompting.

In Year 10, Quinn used to hesitate when tackling composite functions, but after recent sessions he's now able to work ahead of his class and explain key steps without support.

Meanwhile, Jessica (Year 4) struggled with organisation and sometimes rushed her homework, but last week arrived excited to show off a neatly organised folder and completed all tasks accurately.
