As a teacher the first and foremost thing is to have patience. If your student is not in their comfort zone while they are learning no matter how good your grades are a student you can't be a good teacher.i always put myself in the student's place first and then I act like the teacher. Because only then i can understand how shall my approach be.…

I think the most important thing is giving students learning and study strategies which they can apply across different subjects and learning areas. I believe this is the most useful information you can teach a student as this knowledge is what will allow them to become an independent learner, improve their academic marks across the board, and…

I believe in supporting young minds to discover their innate potential to learning because knowing is only a means to reach ones way of being. Therefore, the role of a tutor/teacher, to me, is to facilitate the learning. I can easily get along with young minds. I am excellent in simplifying complex concepts to relatable examples so that my…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be patient and adapt to their learning style. Not everyone learns the same way, with the same words or at the same time. It is of utmost importance to showcase your belief in them and empower them to enjoy what they are studying and not just do it for the sake of school but do it for…

Being patient and understanding. At the beginning of my tutoring journey, I provided several private one on one tutoring sessions. I started to expect a lot from the students as some students performed better than ours. But it is later I started understanding every student is different and we should always work at their pace. Never push them and…

I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is helping them achieve the results they want to pave the way for future career pathways. This can be achieved by maximising a student's potential through motivation, encouragement, and engaging them with the content that you are tutoring them for. There is nothing worse than just…

The most important thing for a tutor is to make lesson delivery as easy and understandable as possible to make them catch the concept strongly so that they can solve problems by themselves. When they can do things by themselves they become highly inspired towards lessons and studies. I can determine the level of understanding of my students and…

To be supportive and try to put in the place of student to understand his/her problem. A tutor must guide the students using different approaches to relate the topics with his surroundings. I believe students enjoy learning from the surrounding, what they observe they learn. First of all, my strength is my knowledge which enables me to guide…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to ensure that the student feels they are being listened to and meeting their needs. For example, it is essential to work at the pace of your student, if your student only wants to pass their subject it is your job to make sure they are best suited for that to happen. Or if your student…

The most important would be to give the student the confidence to solve problems by themselves so that they are able to overcome any fears regarding the subject as well as sit any examinations or assessments and score well. I am flexible and can adapt to the students learning style to make it more relatable. I take time to understand the student…

I believe a tutor should teach a student how to love a subject instead of do it. For a student to be able to realise why they adore the subject and why they are studying it in the first place. A tutor should try their best to allow their students to feel like they are in a safe place, where they can ask any questions and feel free without feeling…

Understanding and patience, some students lack knowledge of basic concepts and require a boost, so it's important to tailor tutoring styles to each student, whether that is written examples or oral analogies, especially in the Maths and Sciences. The tutor-student relationship should be viewed as a partnership, the tutor should not take the role of the instructor. Inside LynwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Lucy focused on revising multiplication and division skills, practising multi-digit problems to build confidence.

For Year 10, David worked through probability concepts including measures of spread, two-way tables, and Venn diagrams in preparation for an upcoming class test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Molly tackled differentiation techniques and their real-world applications in Mathematics Methods, reinforcing her understanding with practice questions from past exams.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student did not regularly review past assessment tasks or consolidate topics like permutations and proofs in Mathematics Specialist, despite heavy subject demands. As one tutor observed, "practice with connecting equations to concepts was limited," which made it harder to link methods efficiently under exam conditions.

In Chemistry (Year 12), there was a pattern of avoiding deeper revision on chemical bonding and acid-base theory; feedback from previous tests wasn't always integrated into new work.

Meanwhile, a primary student often left homework incomplete and avoided subtraction worksheets—missed practice led to more frustration with multi-step problems when they appeared unexpectedly in sessions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Lynwood reported that a Year 11 student who previously needed reminders to check his work now completes chemistry practice problems with almost no help, confidently linking ideas between acid-base reactions and intermolecular forces.

In a recent session, a Year 7 student who once hesitated to attempt harder multiplication questions tackled all the 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication tasks on her own, showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, one younger learner who used to rush through addition is now taking time to double-check answers and has improved accuracy, recently scoring 88% on an addition test.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Riverton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Fountain College - Lynwood Campus.
