Local Reviews

Nicholas tutored me throughout year 11 and 12 methods. His bright personality and eagerness to teach made me want to learn. His lessons were thorough but very understandable and engaging. He was professional and understanding for areas of difficulty and throughout the 2 years offered me great support. His teaching skills are excellent and he was very knowledgeable. All in all Nicholas assisted me heavily throughout the 2 years and made me enjoy the subject.

Inside MacarthurTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Zoe worked on solving simultaneous equations using substitution and practiced expanding binomials to reinforce her algebra skills.

Year 10 student Max focused on mastering the quadratic formula and solved quadratic equations by both factorising and applying the null law, with extra attention to setting up each step clearly.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Olivia revised area calculations for composite shapes and circles, using diagrams to break down each part before combining totals.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student had not completed any independent revision for an upcoming exam, making it difficult to build confidence with earlier topics.

"Jay wasn't completely caught up on the recent classwork," a tutor noted, so session time was spent catching up instead of extending skills.

In Year 12, lesson preparation and topic selection were often left until sessions began, which slowed progress; this also meant targeted help with challenging tasks like "Pattern Tests" couldn't happen right away.

In contrast, a younger student (Year 5) repeatedly left most homework incomplete or incorrect—yet performed well when questions were done together in-person.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Macarthur noticed one high school student began asking for clarification as soon as a maths concept felt unclear, instead of staying silent—especially when tackling simultaneous equations, which she'd struggled with before.

Another Year 10 learner recently shifted from rarely participating to talking aloud through problems; he even explained intercepts on hyperbolae without prompting.

In primary, a younger student moved from needing to count on fingers for addition to solving several sums mentally and under time pressure, fixing his own mistakes during the second round of practice.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Erindale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Gilmore Primary School.
