An important aspect of tutoring is not hindering the student's creativity. I believe every student has a different learning style. If a student requires additional assistance, the tutor is responsible for identifying it and providing extra support, while being patient with them. It is our responsibility to encourage students to be creative with…

I have this preconceived notion that both mentoring and tutoring have the same purpose, and that is to help a student learn. As someone who is well-read in the sciences, I always rationalize the factors that inhibit a student’s learning process. With that said, I always aim to clear those learning inhibitors if they are within my capacity. Upon…

I believe it is vital for a tutor to provide classes focused on learning by interpreting the contents from different perspectives and solving different types of problems, rather than just transferring knowledge. Repetitive teaching will help students remember the contents longer, and eventually, they will be able to naturally apply what they have…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make the student understand in a easy and comfortable way, even if the tutor has to repeat it so many times for them. Another important thing is that all children should not be left behind, as I tutor, he/she should move together at the pace of students and that no one should be left out.…

I think being more practical, by being more open. By explaining problems with examples of real life, with things they already know and have seen. I think helping them with the home work related problems and also giving them a problem or two to solve from the teaching of the day. Simple things like repetitive recalling and revising can also do…

A tutor's responsibility is to make the students ready for the future. A tutor should help the students to be self reliant, independent and self confident. A tutor should try to come down to the level of students in order to make the teaching learning process more successful. My patience, sincerity, dedication towards my work, flexibility and…

I think the impact that a tutor can have on a student should not be understated. A tutor could be the reason a student develops a greater sense of purpose or self-esteem and the one that sets a student straight on the true and good path to success and fulfilment. The one who could help give a student confidence to pursue their field of interest,…

I believe the most important things that a tutor can do for a student mainly relies on what the end goal of the student is. If it is just to get the homework done, it will get done. But, for me as a tutor, I would personally make sure that every student understands the concept from the beginning rather than providing a general overview. I believe…

I feel like the most important thing a tutor can do is to prepare a student for any academic challenges at school. This preparation can be reflected in the results that they end up achieving, but we should still believe that an exam can't be a true reflection of the students' true potential. Being a student myself, I feel like my strength is that…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be interactive and form a relationship with the student. A tutor needs to understand their student so they can be more effective. Inside RosehillTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Jessica worked through NAPLAN-style Language Conventions questions and analysed images as part of her English assessment preparation.

In Year 9, Sam focused on algebraic techniques for exam revision and practised finding the area of composite shapes alongside interpreting poetry, specifically "Hope."

Meanwhile, Year 7 student Riley completed exercises on adding and subtracting algebraic terms and tackled worded multiplication problems in algebra to build confidence with real-world applications.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 mathematics, skipping steps when solving algebra led to sign errors—"she didn't show her working, which hid where mistakes crept in," noted a tutor.

For a Year 11 chemistry student, unfinished homework and inconsistent practice with chemical formulas made it harder to remember symbols under exam pressure.

A Year 7 English student avoided using new vocabulary in creative writing tasks, sticking only to familiar words instead of expanding ideas.

Meanwhile, one Year 4 student's attention drifted during multi-step fraction problems; she often gave up quickly if the answer wasn't obvious at first glance.

Recent Achievements

One Rosehill tutor noted a big change in a Year 10 student who, after weeks of hesitating to show her work, now lays out every calculation step-by-step without prompting—a shift that's made it easier for her to catch small mistakes.

A Year 11 student recently managed to complete all calculus differentiation questions correctly in class, having previously struggled with the quotient rule and often leaving problems unfinished.

In a Year 4 session, a younger learner who usually guessed answers started pausing to double-check her fractions before responding, leading her to solve every question accurately by herself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Granville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rosehill Public School.
