Create a safe and comfortable environment where the student can learn and understand topics without pressure. They can’t learn if they’re uncomfortable or feel unsafe. It's very easy for me to hold conversations and I'm adaptable to a student's preferred method of learning (notes, physical, visual,…

I think the most important thing a biology tutor can do for a student is to make learning easy and fun for them so they enjoy learning. One of the reasons why I love studying at my college is my teachers. I think a tutor decide if a student likes the subject or not. I am naturally good with children and I talk a lot. A lot of people have suggested…

Tutors work with students to guide their learning process, by personalising the content delivery in a way the child is able to respond to. This also incorporates the ability to motivate the child to learn, to believe in their own abilities and to strive to keeping persevering. I believe I have the necessary strength simply to push. I describe…

The most important thing a biology tutor can do for a student would be trying different methods to help their student learn. Sticking to the same structure when it comes to learning doesn’t work for everybody and different students learn in their own unique way. It is really important that the tutor adapts to this learning style so it helps the…

Inside Safety BayTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Mason worked on multiplication shortcuts for 4's and 6's as well as building confidence with basic fractions.

For Year 8, Chloe practiced solving linear equations and plotted X and Y coordinates onto graphs to visualise how linear relationships work.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Olivia focused on applying SOHCAHTOA in trigonometry to find unknown sides or angles and also reviewed key concepts in algebra, including simplifying expressions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often mixed up rules for adding and multiplying fractions, forgetting to convert to improper fractions before starting the equation.

In Year 11, one student relied on a calculator for basic multiplication rather than recalling times tables mentally—especially with 6, 8, and 9s.

A Year 7 learner struggled with organization during worded questions in algebra; they missed key information by not breaking problems down step-by-step.

After setbacks in a recent test, a Year 12 felt unable to recall any information, leading to hesitation when tackling new finance concepts.

Recent Achievements

One Safety Bay tutor noted a big shift for a Year 10 student who, after weeks of hesitating to attempt linear equations alone, managed to solve several on their own in the last session—finishing confidently and with much less prompting.

Another recent high school win: a Year 11 student who previously mixed up X and Y axes was able to plot coordinates correctly without reminders, showing real independence.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who used to freeze when faced with fraction simplification is now simplifying them automatically and even explained the steps back to the tutor during their game-based revision.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Safety Bay Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Safety Bay Primary School.
