Business Studies Tutor Redbank Plains, QLD
I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to always be there for them. As teachers/tutors, it is not all about educating them in core subjects but being there for them through rough times. We have all experienced what it is like to be a student and sometimes they go through some difficult situations and I believe that…

Business Studies Tutor Springfield, QLD
Treat the student in a nonthreatening, calm manner. Respect the student and their thought processes and engage them in the material. Do not be hyper-critical. It is the tutors responsibility to ensure the student fully understands a concept, i.e. they are able to apply knowledge by themselves especially in areas such as mathematics and physics. I…

As a tutor, it's my responsibility to respect my students, to always encourage them and to never give up on them. Moreover, it is my duty to inspire my students and to support them so that they achieve their full potential. I believe that my strength comes from my ability to adapt and accommodate for a students' particular style of learning. Each…

Inside Spring MountainTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Issy worked through differentiation techniques for trigonometric and logarithmic functions, as well as methods for integrating complex expressions.

Year 11 student Olivia focused on understanding vector multiplication in Specialist Maths and interpreting logarithmic scales using real-world data examples.

For a younger student, Year 7 Pavit revised solving and factorising quadratic equations and practiced probability concepts, including representing outcomes with simple graphs.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 Maths, a student frequently skipped writing out steps when solving algebra and trigonometry problems—"she did most of it mentally," one tutor noted—which led to sign errors that were only noticed much later.

A Year 12 student tackling financial maths homework sometimes struggled to keep track of which variables belonged where, making loan model questions harder than necessary.

In contrast, a Year 4 learner often forgot to "borrow" during subtraction because written work was messy and working lines got lost on the page.

When feedback was given in class, there were times it wasn't taken up right away, meaning similar mistakes reappeared next lesson.

Recent Achievements

A Spring Mountain tutor recently noticed Isabelle, a senior student, has started identifying key details independently in complex financial maths questions—something she hesitated with before.

Issy, also in high school, now tackles unfamiliar bivariate data problems independently after just one example, rather than waiting for step-by-step guidance as she used to.

Meanwhile, Pavit in primary school made a clear shift from relying heavily on his fingers for subtraction to using mental strategies instead, especially when working with two-digit numbers. Last session, he completed a full set of sums without reaching for his hands once.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Redbank Plains Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Spring Mountain State School.
