What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping students improve their academic abilities and feel rewarded for doing so. I also really enjoy making lesson plans and mapping out what I would like to teach students due to my love for organisation.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am highly organised, responsible and can adapt to various students and their style of learning. I understand that each individual learns differently and therefore drive my work with a student-first approach. I take pride in creating personalised lesson plans and being adaptable in whichever way I can bring most value as a tutor. Paired with my friendly personality, patience and ability to explain topics clearly, I can help students progress and become confident in themselves.
My love for tutoring stems from teaching my younger brother since he was a few years old. Observing his confidence within himself grow, whilst teachers would come up to me to inform me of his academic improvements, I felt really rewarded for my work. Seeing my students develop and succeed is what really drives me as a tutor to do what I do. Overall, I have no doubt that I am a hardworking individual and hold a strong regard to the value of education. Identical to my own commitment to excel educationally in my finance and accounting degree, I commit to support and inspire my student(s) to also achieve their goals.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing for a tutor is to listen to and understand their student's weaknesses and strengths. Often I find many people lack personalisation and simply follow the curriculum. I like to take a different approach where I really personalise my teaching depending on the student's capabilities and learning style. I also find organisation and leadership qualities are key for a tutor to be the most beneficial for a student.

Xavier’s multiplication recall continues to be strong, and he showed good understanding of odd and even numbers when the information was written down for him to reference. His factor work showed steady progress, after initial guidance, he was able to complete several examples with minimal errors. It was also great to see him re-engage with fraction conversions after some revision, showing improvement as the practice continued. I’m especially pleased with his recent test results, which reflect his highest score to date.
Xavier needs more repetition with odd and even numbers until he can identify them instantly without prompts. Continuing to reinforce factors weekly will further strengthen his accuracy and speed. Fraction conversions will also benefit from regular revision so the method becomes automatic.

Olivia showed strong effort and focus throughout the session, demonstrating good recall of her 3 times tables and applying the doubling strategy effectively for the four times tables. She was able to identify faces on 3D shapes with accuracy and showed a good understanding of fraction basics. In the worded algebra problems, she followed the steps carefully and was able to reach correct answers with minimal prompting.
We will continue to build Olivia’s confidence in solving algebraic word problems, especially in identifying the correct operations needed. More practice with fractions, particularly comparing and simplifying them, will help strengthen her understanding. Revisiting shape terminology and properties regularly will also ensure she retains this knowledge for future work.

Olivia picked up the new angle concepts quickly, showing a clear understanding of how to identify each type and apply the correct terminology. She followed the steps for calculating exterior angles with good accuracy during guided practice. In her spelling test, she spelled 12 out of 22 words correctly, showing strength with several challenging vocabulary items.
We will continue to reinforce her understanding of angles through further practice, especially with acute and obtuse angles to build automatic recognition. In spelling, there were more errors this week, so revisiting and practising the incorrect words for homework will help strengthen retention and accuracy.

Xavier made excellent progress, particularly with fractions. He quickly picked up the differences between proper, improper, and mixed numbers and was able to explain them in his own words. His ability to independently convert from mixed numbers to improper fractions was a standout achievement, given that this was a brand-new skill for him. His multiplication recall showed clear improvement - he demonstrated both accuracy and speed, which is a great sign of growing fluency. During the long addition and subtraction tasks, he showed a good grasp of process and generally accurate working. Overall, this was one of his strongest lessons to date in terms of focus, understanding, and application.
Xavier still needs ongoing reinforcement of factors, as he sometimes forgets the process for identifying them, especially with larger numbers. While his multiplication recall is improving, regular short practice will help maintain and strengthen this skill. In long addition and subtraction, a few small mistakes were made. These could be reduced by slowing down slightly and double-checking his work before finalising an answer. Continued practice with fractions will also help solidify learning and ensure the concepts become second nature.
