Its good to be able to use a formula or understand how mathematical theories work but if you do not understand the fundamental blocks of which that concept is built on you will not be getting very far. Still sometimes forgetting in the moment what the conversion between mm, cm, m and km is. If you ask him plainly he understands but sometimes relating that to a problem is hard.

Addition of decimals and converting between g and kg. Whilst Isaac understands that there are 1000g in 1kg, he struggles with understanding that 600g = 0.6kg.
