What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I am someone who loves talking to people, and although tutoring is not exactly that, I really love that I can pass on my knowledge of topics and subjects that I myself am very passionate about, so that I can inspire other students to love studying these subjects as much as I did.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe that throughout my studies, I came to learn and discover many other ways of solving a question, especially for maths, than what is taught exactly in the textbook or by the teacher. Sometimes, these methods are simpler to follow and easier to understand, and I find sharing these tips and methods with other students for their benefit very exciting.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

To be patient with them to ensure they learn at their own pace, and to ensure they do not overstress themselves when they are unable to grasp a concept easily. As a tutor, it will be my job to help make their areas of confusion much simpler to understand and ensure they leave class with all their questions answered. It is important for the tutor to try and gain an understanding of how a particular individual learns, as not all students learn best with the same methods, and adapt my approach to best suit the individual.

About Raika

Academic Excellence and Maths Achievement

Raika brings an outstanding academic record, consistently achieving top marks across her studies and earning multiple certificates for excellence in mathematics. She has been recognised with bronze awards in national mathematical challenges and completed the Kumon Mathematics Programme at a level well above her age group. These achievements reflect not only strong subject knowledge but also a deep familiarity with advanced problem-solving—skills she channels directly into her tutoring sessions.

Leadership, Mentoring, and Real-World Teaching Experience

As a former House Captain and Sustainability Prefect, Raika led student teams, organised large-scale events, and mentored peers from diverse backgrounds. She has hands-on experience guiding fellow students through challenging concepts in maths and English, always adapting her communication style to each learner’s needs. Her voluntary work supporting students with special needs at community events further highlights her patience, empathy, and ability to build trust with young learners.

Creative Engagement and Passion for Learning

Raika infuses creativity into her lessons by drawing on interests such as chess puzzles, language learning, and science competitions. She enjoys using practical examples—like upcycling projects or real-world scenarios—to make complex topics accessible and engaging. Parents can expect sessions that go beyond textbooks; Raika encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and independent study skills that help children thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
