What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Although I have not had any tutoring experience specifically, back in highschool and during my university classes, I would try to help my classmates when I can. As such, from my personal experience, I enjoy seeing someone having the "aha" moment, when the tricky concept finally clicks, which I suppose rewards me with a dopamine hit in a way, knowing that I helped someone bridge the gap of their confusion and understanding. To conclude, to me, tutoring is about being able to help a student break down difficult and complex ideas so that they can learn and grow more confident.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I suppose my strengths as a tutor would be clarity when it comes to explanation, I try to break down the most complex ideas with much smaller, manageable steps where a student can grasp the overall concept. I am also quite a patient person, rarely getting frustrated or tired when it comes to re-explaining concepts in a new way. I try multiple ways of approaches if someone does not understand how I taught it the first time. I also try to give consistent feedback and support, rather than just saying something is wrong, I attempt to show why or how to fix something.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I firmly believe that the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to foster understanding rather than memorisation or learning something through rote learning, this helps a student when it comes to application based questions. As a tutor, I also believe that it is important to build confidence in their students, allowing their students to maximise their capabilities and realise their potential. It is also important to adapt to a student's needs as each individual learns differently and at a different pace.
