What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
One of the reasons I enjoy tutoring is the bonds that are formed with my students throughout the tutoring process. Tutoring introduces me to different people from vastly different backgrounds. By bonding with my students, I gain joy from knowing more about people with different cultures from mine.
It also couldn't get any better when I get to witness my students achieve their life goals. I truly enjoy helping others achieve goals they have dreamt of, particularly goals that I have failed to achieve myself. It gives me purpose, making me feel like I’ve contributed meaningfully to society.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have experience working in the education sector as a primary school teacher. Thus, I believe that I have the skillset not just to deliver complex knowledge to students but also to maintain a positive relationship with their parents.
I wasn't a top student throughout my school journey. I was addicted to playing video games and wasn't getting 'good' grades. Hence, I can relate to students who aren't so academically focused, and I can guide them based on my experience.
I can give crucial advices to year 12 students about uni life as I just experienced that transition not too long ago.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that the most important responsibility of a tutor is to inspire curiosity and passion for study among students. This can be done by making lessons much more interactive and fascinating, which will encourage them to study for themselves, not for the sake of someone else.
Also, tutors should create an environment where students feel welcomed to ask questions on any topics they find confusing, including non-academic questions. This 'dare to ask' attitude will ultimately bring them to success in the future.

About Jing Yuen
Proven Track Record in Academic Excellence
I received A* grades in A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, demonstrating a solid foundation in these fundamental STEM subjects. Despite the increased difficulty in the contents, I am still doing well academically as an engineering student at Monash University, maintaining a WAM of 96 and earning a 98% in my university-level mathematics unit. My steady performance shows that I not only understand the material, but also have the self-control and flexibility required to succeed in challenging settings. Thus, with the knowledge that I have, I firmly believe that I can help you ace your academic like how I did.
Experienced in the Education Sector
I gained practical experience teaching science and math to elementary school pupils, where I honed my ability to communicate difficult concepts in an approachable and interesting manner. I worked as a math teaching assistant in high school, helping my teacher by gathering and answering questions from students. Based on my academic achievement, I was also chosen to tutor physics for a weekly volunteer program, where I gave focused assistance to students that our teachers personally chose. I now have excellent communication skills and a thorough understanding of how to modify lessons to meet the needs of various learning styles thanks to these experiences.
Personal Life
I was born and raised in Malaysia. Growing up in Malaysia meant that I am able to speak multiple languages fluently such as English, Mandarin and Malay. Since young, I have shown great interest in STEM subjects particularly Maths and Physics and my ambition is to become a successful researcher in STEM field one day. Outside of academic, I was a swimmer where I used to represent my school to compete in inter-state swimming competitions as well as national swimming competitions. I also enjoy watching motorsport particularly F1 and motogp which is the essential reason why I decided to pursue an engineering degree in Monash University.
