What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The most fulfilling thing to me is when I see students have that "lightbulb" moment after grasping concepts which they had difficulty understanding prior, and it gives me more joy knowing that I may have contributed towards that understanding.
Second to that, it's great seeing students achieve the grades they hope for. Going for tutoring can be difficult but seeing students put in their own effort and hard work to improve their grades and meet their own expectations is something I greatly enjoy.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Being able to help students gain understanding of concepts in a fun and engaging manner. From experience, being tutored can be quite stressful and unenjoyable due to the rigidity and high expectations of the tutor. However, I aim for my students to be comfortable and learn in a safe environment where mistakes are to be expected and students can reattempt questions without judgement.
Apart from that, I believe that I have the patience needed as a tutor. A tutor's job sometimes entails a lot of re-explaining concepts to students which definitely requires patience.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Being able to tailor the teaching approach according to the student's needs as required. Not every student learns in the in a linear manner or same way as others, and that might make it difficult to process and learn content when in a big classroom. One of the most important jobs as a tutor is definitely to break things down and explain concepts in simpler terms in such a way that is understandable to students.
