What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
As someone who has always been self taught due to never recieving formal tution, I know how much of a difference the right explanation can make. By right explanation, I mean the explanation that 'clicks'. As a result, I enjoy tutoring as I find joy in helping students overcoming their frustration I felt during my highschool years in understanding specific mathematical concepts to instead discover that learning can be enjoyable and empowering.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Being self-taught has fostered patience and calmness, while possessing the ability to explain concepts from different angles. This is due to the ability of breaking complex ideas into simple steps. These aspects of myself would thus make me an excellent tutor.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think one of the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is translate concepts in the students language. For example, some students are visual learners, while some are through written or algebraic proof. It's vital to teach in a way that matches the students thinking to ensure that the student no longer finds the subject intimidating but finds it achievable. As a result, the student builds up their own momentum and consistency by being more passionate for the subject, which can be difference between a poor mark and not only an excellent mark, but a newfound appreciation for it.

He needs to continuously apply it in thsc practice papers, specifically the general gear 11 papers and the year 9 papers since they are a bit more course relevant. This will help him prepare for any past papers that the teacher provides for him, which will help him prepare for his finals.

He needs to improve his time management and commitment in his own time. I can give him all I can in our sessions, but it is all dependent on how he uses that advice and those resources to continue moving forward in his own time.
He was able to understand all of the worked solutions I provided, and found the answers much easier to obtain after understanding the thinking.

I identified that even though he is able to understand his solutions very well after working through them with him is because: 1. He doesn't adequately prepare for it 2. He doesn't use flashcard to memorise the concepts so he doesn't forget on the way to his exams I set him some homework, which included creating a set of flashcards on Anki to understand and memorise as much as possible. It will also help him stay up to date with his studies in the holidays when he is not practicing intensely.
