Verified Tutor
Have tutored for almost a year with mainly primary school children, including for academic scholarship entrance exams
Irene’s experience supervising and babysitting younger family members has shaped her calm, patient approach to tutoring. She is used to supporting children who need extra time, repeating explanations in different ways until it “clicks”. At her tutoring role, she works with structured worksheets and practice problems, guiding students through worked examples and then encouraging them to attempt similar questions independently. This tutor combines gentle encouragement with clear expectations so students steadily build independence and responsibility for their own learning.
Growing up in a multilingual environment, Irene is proficient in Chinese and can connect with students and parents who speak languages other than English. She often uses translation to clarify instructions and reassure families about their child’s progress. Her experience in customer-facing roles has strengthened her communication and listening skills, helping her explain feedback to parents in a clear, respectful way. Irene brings reliability, strong task management and genuine care for her students’ progress to every tutoring session.

- Writing equations from word problems - more complex geometry problems involving parallel lines
She understands how to write an effective formula sheet for her test Understands volume conceptually as well as the difference between mL and grams

- I think he should be more confident in himself, he has potential in Maths and English but I have noticed he feels the need to go over concepts or his work repeatedly. This is a good habit but sometimes he does it for things he already understands well, which may cause unnecessary stress. - This applies to his body language as well, he should project louder and engage with his audience more - English oral assessments almost always look for good presenting habits in their rubric
