What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to help someone understand something they were struggling with and seeing them feel more confident. I haven’t formally tutored before, but I was a Year 7 mentor twice in high school, and I used to help students with their work, read over their assignments, and explain things in an easier way. I’ve always liked STEM and maths, so I genuinely enjoy breaking things down and helping someone finally get it. It feels good knowing I can make school a bit less stressful for someone else.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my strengths is that I’m used to learning independently because I completed the International Baccalaureate, which is a challenging global high school program that focuses on critical thinking and understanding concepts deeply rather than just memorising. Because of that, I’ve learned how to break things down myself and really understand them, which makes it easier for me to explain things clearly to someone else. I’m patient and calm and I try not to make anyone feel bad for not getting something straight away.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important things a tutor can do are help a student feel confident, make learning clear and understandable, and be patient. It’s important to break things down step by step so students don’t feel overwhelmed and to create a space where they feel comfortable asking questions without feeling judged. I also think it’s important to encourage students to think for themselves and try things on their own, because thats how you start to deeply understand something.
