What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy passing on my experience, joy, and passion for learning new things to others so that they can also enjoy learning and build confidence in their skills.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my strengths are being able to communicate effectively with children or those younger than me as I have a lot of experience coaching younger children.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important thing is to be able to connect with the student while teaching and make sure they are enjoying learning new topics and making it fun and interesting.

About Locke

Active coach who connects well with kids

Locke is an experienced junior sports coach who has spent several years running structured football sessions for children as young as four, and now works with even younger groups from one year old. He is used to keeping lively kids engaged, following clear routines, and balancing fun with learning goals. This tutor brings strong communication skills from coaching and previous customer-facing roles, helping him explain ideas simply and calmly while creating a positive, encouraging environment for primary and high school students.

Science and computer-focused university student

Currently studying a Bachelor of Science with a major in Computer Science and a Diploma of Languages in Mandarin, Locke is well placed to support students in Maths and related problem-solving subjects. His own study requires logical thinking, step-by-step reasoning and attention to detail, which he brings into tutoring sessions. He can draw on his language studies to break concepts into manageable parts, and is comfortable helping students build strong foundations before moving on to more challenging material.

Safe, organised and engaging learning approach

Locke holds a working with children check, first aid qualification and a sports coaching certificate, giving parents extra reassurance about safety and professionalism. On the field, he has designed age-appropriate drills and progressions, so he understands how to scaffold skills from simple to more complex tasks. In tutoring, he uses the same approach: short, focused activities, clear goals and regular check-ins. He enjoys using real-world examples, including sport and technology, to make Maths and English feel relevant and interesting for each student.
