What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students overcome challenges and seeing their confidence grow over time. I find it incredibly rewarding when a student begins to understand a concept they once found difficult and starts to genuinely enjoy the learning process. I strongly believe that when students develop an appreciation for learning itself, every subject becomes more approachable and less intimidating. Being part of that growth and transformation is what motivates me most.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

One of my key strengths as a tutor is patience. I understand that every student learns at a different pace, and I am committed to supporting them without pressure or frustration. I am also multilingual which allows me to communicate concepts in different ways and connect with students from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, I am highly resilient and adaptable. If a student does not understand a concept the first time, I will approach it from another perspective rather than giving up. I am committed to finding a method that works best for each individual learner.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important role of a tutor is to guide and mentor students beyond simply teaching content. A tutor should create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Encouraging students to understand the fundamentals and enjoy the learning process builds long-term confidence and independence. By fostering curiosity and resilience, a tutor not only helps a student succeed in one subject but also equips them with skills and mindset that benefit them across all areas of their education.

About Riya

High-achieving maths and science role model

Riya is a high-achieving recent school graduate with an ATAR above 95 and strong results across Maths, Science and Psychology. She is now studying a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Business Analytics, which keeps her mathematical and analytical skills sharp. This tutor particularly enjoys breaking down tricky maths and science concepts into simple, step-by-step explanations so students feel confident rather than overwhelmed. As someone who has recently succeeded in the same subjects, she can share practical study strategies, exam tips and clear worked examples.

Experienced student leader with a calm, approachable style

Throughout high school, Riya held an executive intercultural leadership role, regularly welcoming new students, especially those from overseas, and helping them settle into school life. She ran weekly meetings, supported younger students and acted as a peer mentor, which has given her a calm, patient and approachable tutoring style. Riya is used to explaining ideas to classmates from different language backgrounds, so she is very comfortable rephrasing, slowing down, or using visuals until a student truly understands.

Clear communicator who connects with diverse learners

Riya is fluent in English, Marathi and Hindi, with additional study in Japanese, which helps her understand how language affects learning and how to explain concepts in different ways. She brings strong communication, time management and analytical thinking to each session, ensuring lessons are well organised and focused. Outside study, she has been involved in youth leadership and environmental volunteering, and she uses these experiences to make examples real and engaging, showing students how maths and science connect to everyday life and future careers.
