What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Although I have not tutored a great deal, what I enjoyed most about tutoring was seeing the progression and growth within a student, not only with grades, but also with the connection and bond that is made between you and the student.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my strengths as a tutor would be communication, which can mean adapting to each individual student and explaining certain concepts in ways that are not only helpful but easy to understand. Another strength would be the way of teaching, guiding students through each step methodically and really understanding what is going on and why, not just saying here is the answer, and remembering each individual problem.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is be patient, for example, not rush over lessons or move too quickly through content, and really build a solid groundwork, especially in subjects such as math, which sets up the student for success. Additionally, building that strong connection so that lessons and learning don't feel like a hassle, and students feel excited to come and learn.

About Angus

Highachieving engineering student with strong maths foundations

Angus is a current Engineering (Honours) student who has already earned multiple High Distinctions and Distinctions, showing he not only understands complex maths but can apply it clearly and accurately. At school he completed senior studies with a recognised certificate of distinction, reflecting consistent effort and strong academic habits. This tutor brings those same skills to sessions, helping students break problems into manageable steps and explaining concepts in a logical, downtoearth way that makes maths feel far less intimidating.

Experienced youth coach who connects well with younger students

Through several years as a soccer coach and referee for younger players, Angus has developed the ability to motivate, guide and keep students engaged. He has completed formal “Laws of the Game” training and regularly liaised with senior coaches, giving him experience in planning, clear communication and managing different personalities. On the field he learned how to explain instructions simply, give constructive feedback and build confidence – the same approach he uses to support students who may be unsure or anxious about schoolwork.

Calm, organised tutor who builds confidence step by step

Angus brings a calm, patient style to tutoring, shaped by juggling study with coaching and parttime work. He is wellorganised, punctual and used to working to clear goals, whether that’s improving test results or building basic skills. In sessions he focuses on worked examples, plenty of practice questions and checking understanding by having students “teach back” what they’ve learned. This tutor aims to help students feel proud of their progress, turning small wins into longterm confidence in maths and wider study.
