What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I really like helping children understand a confusing concept or topic. It's really rewarding, since if you explain it well, the student will use that technique.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my ability to explain complex concepts easily is a good strength I have, especially in maths. I am patient and don't give up or skip the foundations, as I believe it's really important to have a solid understanding before learning more advanced concepts.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Be responsible for the students, and make sure they understand the concept BEFORE moving on to the next topic. A bad tutor in my opinion, is one that doesn't check the students performance, and moves on if the student says so. The student may be shy to ask for help, and as a tutor, it's your responsibility that students are comfortable enough to be honest with you.

About umaima

Experienced Maths & English Tutor for Young Learners

Umaima is a university student who has already spent several years tutoring Maths and English for primary students, especially from Kindergarten to Year 4. At a dedicated learning centre, she marked and reviewed work, explained tricky concepts step by step, and supported OC preparation. She is used to juggling several students at once while still giving each child individual attention. Parents value her calm, organised approach and the way she turns mistakes into useful learning moments.

Strong Classroom Management and Child-Centred Approach

Alongside tutoring, this tutor currently works in before and after school care, supervising groups of children and planning fun, age-appropriate activities. This means she is confident managing different personalities, helping shy students speak up and guiding more energetic ones to stay focused. She is skilled at noticing when a child is feeling overwhelmed and uses gentle encouragement and clear routines to keep learning on track, making sessions feel safe and structured.

High-Achieving Student Who Relates to Kids

As a high-achieving school graduate now studying biomedical engineering, Umaima understands what it takes to build strong foundations in Maths and English. Her own primary school DUX award and experience in debating and reading challenges show she enjoys academic stretch as well as clear communication. She uses these experiences to share practical study tips, model good problem-solving habits, and show students that learning can be both challenging and enjoyable.
